Job Description:

We are seeking a customer-focused and organized Service Writer to join a locally owned and operated outdoor power equipment dealership in Evansville, IN . This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment serving both residential and commercial customers. The ideal candidate will enjoy helping people, managing service orders, and keeping operations running smoothly in the service department.

Schedule:

Full-time, Monday - Friday, day shift (occasional Saturday hours during peak season)

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers and assist with service inquiries in person, by phone, and via email
• Create and manage work orders, documenting equipment details and repair requests
• Communicate repair estimates, timelines, and status updates to customers
• Coordinate with technicians to ensure efficient service scheduling and parts availability
• Process warranty and recall work with manufacturers as needed
• Maintain accurate service records and billing information
• Order and verify necessary parts for repairs and service jobs
• Support the front counter or parts department when needed
• Ensure a clean, organized, and professional service counter area

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in customer service, service writing, or a related role (equipment, automotive, or powersports experience preferred)
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training a plus
• Basic understanding of outdoor power equipment or small engines preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency with computers and service management systems
• Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment
• Friendly, professional attitude and commitment to great customer service
